I became acquainted with the intriguing world of Macro Photography while studying Color Photo Communication at MTSU. I photographed various pieces of jewelry, fabric, coins and leaves and became enamored by their transformation under the macro lens. Colors lifted from beneath the surface, details unseen to the naked eye became illuminated.
I disassembled several bikes and started photographing the parts. I discovered a relationship between the pieces, and the life and death of my close friend, Zach. We both shared a love for biking the beautiful, rolling hills of Eastern Tennessee. This project started out as a bit of a tribute to the hobby we shared and evolved into an exploration of my own grief, as I attempted to process losing my dear friend to suicide. I miss him dearly.
