A friend and I decided to pack up and fly to Berlin, Germany for New Years Eve in 2015. Our trip would also take us to Frankfurt and Munich. We hopped from one hostel to the next going through these three cities and we had a blast. The trip was short; just under two weeks but we managed to pack a lot in.
We toured a vineyard and sailed down the Rhine river in the western German town of Weisbaden. We tried to visit the Neuschwanstein Castle, otherwise known as the inspiration for Disney's Sleeping Beauty castle, but took the wrong train and ended up in Plattling. On New Years Eve, we braved the downright dangerously packed crowds at Brandenburger Tor and discovered that everyone makes their own contribution to the fireworks display. At the stroke of midnight, a mass cacophony of whizzing fireworks overhead, reverberating booms against the buildings and cheers echoes throughout the city. The next day, we toured the Nazi concentration camp, Sachsenhausen. It was sobering to stand in the place where such atrocities occurred.
I decided to take only one camera with me: my beloved Nikon FE2 35mm film camera. Here are a collection of color, and black and white images from my trip. I can't wait to visit again. Next time, I will take way more film.
